When you come for your first session, your counselor will ask about you and the reasons you are seeking counseling. He will seek to fully understand your situation, to get a compete picture of your life and concerns.
Within a few sessions a treatment plan will be completed. This plan will list your goals, ways they can be accomplished, and a time frame for reaching those goals.
Other issues may come up during your counseling which also can be addressed. If you choose to, other people may be involved when you and your counselor agree it is appropriate to do so. Counseling is a “two-way street” with the client and counselor working together to achieve your goals. You are very much an active partner in the process.
